We surveyed employers of hourly workers, asking them what they’re doing differently know to attract elusive job seekers. Here’s what they said:
70% are open to flexible work schedules
37% would use an on-demand worker to fill in for shifts while waiting to hire someone
65% have hiring success by offering higher wages than before the pandemic
How can you adapt to align with changing times?
1. Throw out your outdated hiring playbook.
Over 93% of businesses we surveyed report that they’re now understaffed. This calls for new thinking and instant changes. Don’t stay stuck in a rut when it’s not working.
2. Focus on teens and Generation Z
Young people are venturing into the workforce now much more than in the last few years, a large part because they’re bored from being cooped up for 2 years. Seek them out.
3. Consider underutilized pools of workers
Expand your pool of candidates to hidden labor pools, including second-chance hires, the recently unretired, mothers who now have fewer challenges with daycare, and those with disabilities.
