This week we teamed up with @RVAFoodFest to find their happier places in RVA. Follow along for a day in the life…

I like to head to St. Stephen’s Farmers Market to kick off my Saturday. Don’t miss some of my favorite local finds! Berries from Agriberry, fresh pasta from Chef Laine Myers of Oro, flowers from Prospect Hills Flower Farm, and fluffy English muffins from Saltncinnamon Microbakery. The real bonus is that it is easy to park or ride my bike and the crowd is a manageable size to navigate.

After that, I love putzing around my neighborhood, Scott’s Addition. Afterglow Coffee Cooperative is the perfect place for an afternoon pick-me-up. Afterglow is Richmond’s first worker-owned coffee roaster and café. They roast and brew some delightful, sustainably produced coffee and always have pastries sourced from a local baker.

Whenever I am out wandering around Scott’s I stop in Sun & Selene. Sun & Selene handcrafts gorgeous jewelry fabricated right in their sunny design studio in Scott’s Addition. It is a great place to shop for a gift or to treat yourself to some jewelry!

Today we opted to stop by Starr Hill Brewery since we spotted Smashed RVA out front. Smashed RVA is a burger pop-up serving up juicy smash burgers and it is always worthy of a stop if you see them smashing Seven Hills beef patties on their mobile flat-top. Some of my other favorite breweries in the neighborhood are Vasen, The Veil, and Ardent.

Dessert for dinner is the ultimate move. Jiji Frozen Custard makes fresh frozen custard daily and has some meal-worthy sundaes. I snagged their ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ featuring strawberry custard, pound cake, fresh macerated strawberries, and strawberry cookie crumble!
