Your People · Happier Hours
Meet local business people, without the awkward networking event.
Happier Hours bring InUnison members together in a relaxed setting to meet, reconnect, and get to know the people behind our local business community. No name-tag drills, no pitch rounds – just an easy hour of good company.
A Standard Event – included with membership. Core includes 4 a year; Individual and Team have unlimited access.
Why go
The best business relationships don’t start with a sales pitch.
Most owners meet other owners at events built for lead generation – where the goal is to work the room, and everyone can feel it. You leave with a stack of cards and no one you’d actually call.
Happier Hours are the opposite. The point is simply to know more of the people in your local business community – the ones you’ll trade referrals with, ask for a recommendation, or call when you’re weighing a decision. Those relationships are worth having before you need them, and they start with a low-pressure conversation.
What to expect
A casual gathering, hosted by one of our own.
A Happier Hour is a social get-together, usually held at a local or member business. It’s intentionally less structured than a workshop or a roundtable – come to meet people, have real conversations, and get more connected to the community.
Hosted by a member
Each one is held at a local or member business, so you’re seeing real places and meeting the owners on their home turf.
Connection, not selling
These aren’t lead-generation events. The whole purpose is to build genuine relationships – conversations, not transactions.
Come as you are
No agenda, nothing to prepare, no obligation to “work the room.” About an hour to an hour and a half, in person.
What it feels like
Walk in, get a drink, fall into a good conversation.
The room is small enough that you’re never stuck on the edge of it. Some faces you’ll know from other InUnison events, some you’ll be meeting for the first time, and by the end an hour has somehow gone by. People swap stories about their businesses, compare notes, and make the plans to follow up that turn into something later.
You tend to leave with:
You don’t build a local network by collecting contacts. You build it by being in the room, more than once, with people who remember you.

Common questions
Not in the usual sense. There’s no structured networking, no round of introductions, and it’s not built for lead generation. The point is to build genuine relationships in the local business community – the referrals, recommendations, and collaborations tend to follow from that on their own.
No. Just show up. There’s no agenda and nothing to prepare – bring yourself and a willingness to say hello.
Each Happier Hour is hosted at a local or member business around the Richmond area, so the location changes from one to the next. The host and address are announced with each event and shown when you RSVP.
Roundtables and workshops have a topic, a facilitator, and a learning goal. A Happier Hour has none of that – it’s purely social. Come to meet people and have unhurried conversations, not to work through material.
Anyone can see what’s coming up, but Happier Hours are a member benefit – RSVP goes through your membership. If you’re thinking about joining, compare the membership tiers or get in touch.
Happier Hours are Standard Events. On Core, each one you attend is one of your 4 included Standard Events for the year. Individual and Team have unlimited Standard Event access, and Team covers everyone on the membership. See membership tiers →
